Biomedical Central Laboratory (LSB) is the largest laboratory in Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Brawijaya that provides research services both for research inside FMUB and outside FMUB. In supporting the objective in accordance with the vision and mission of the University and the Faculty that is towards World Class University, it requires support from laboratories and qualified research. The quality is shown through the laboratory’s capability, so it becomes a reference for researchers to carry out the research activities in Biomedical Central Laboratory (LSB) because it has updated and standardized methods.

To support the effort, LSB held a Workshop under a theme: “The Role of Recombinant Protein in the Field of Medicine, Theory and Its Application”, and also Wet Workshop: “Basic Cloning Technique” from Wednesday to Thursday (11-12/4/18).

According to her report, the Head of Central Laboratory of Biomedicine FMUB Dr. Dra. TRI YUDANI MARDINING RARAS, M.App.Sc. said that this year’s Workshop is focused on the field of Molecular Biology. The first workshop was given a theme of Recombinant Protein from theory to application in the field of medicine. In addition to the seminar, this activity also held wet lab.

The purpose of this activity is to introduce the benefits of recombinant protein in the field of medicine and the introduction of basic molecular techniques such as DNA electrophoresis, plasmid transformation, and PCR to researchers.

Participants in this activity consisted of researchers, clinicians, and lecturers with a total of 15 participants from Universities and Research Institutions throughout Indonesia (national). After the workshop, it is expected that the participants will be able to understand the development of recombinant protein from design to laboratory scale production, and researchers throughout Indonesia know more about LSB FMUB and its real scientific activities.
